My Personal Log is an offline personal dashboard. It is built so your entries never leave your device unless you deliberately export them. This policy explains exactly what that means, and, just as importantly, where copies of your data can still exist.

Who is responsible

My Personal Log is made by Studio in a Dot, a one-person independent studio.

What is collected

Nothing is collected. There is no account to create, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no tracking of any kind.

Everything you enter, including profiles, countdowns, tasks, notes, journal entries and your history, is written to a database file in the app’s private storage on your device, and stays there.

What is sent over the network

Nothing. The released version of the app does not request the Android internet permission, so it cannot make network connections at all. This is enforced by the operating system, not merely a promise. The app requests only:

  • Notifications, to show reminders you turn on yourself.
  • Restart-after-reboot, so reminders you already scheduled survive a restart.
  • Vibration, for reminder alerts.

Reminders are generated and shown entirely on your device.

Device backups

The app opts out of Android’s automatic cloud backup. Your database is not copied into your Google Drive device backup. Moving your data to a new device is done through the app’s own export, which you control.

Exported backups

Settings has an Export option that writes a zip file containing your database, and you choose where it goes. Please note:

  • The export is not encrypted and not password-protected. Anyone who opens the file can read your notes and history.
  • Once you share or save it somewhere, that copy is outside the app’s control and outside this policy. If you place it in a cloud drive or send it to someone, it is governed by that service’s terms, not this one.
  • To hand the file to the app you share it with, the app keeps a temporary copy of your most recent export in its private cache. Your next export replaces it, Android can clear it at any time, and uninstalling removes it.

Store exports somewhere you trust.

Deleting your data

Archiving an item takes it off your dashboard but keeps it, so you can restore it from Settings › Archive. The Archive also offers a permanent delete, which removes the item for good: it can no longer be restored or edited.

By default, a permanent delete keeps what the item already logged in your History, for example a task’s past check-offs, a countdown you reached, or a note you wrote, which you can still read by tapping it in History. If you want the History entries removed as well, turn on Settings › Deleting also clears History before deleting, and they are deleted with the item. You can also remove a single entry from History at any time.

Permanent deletion applies to the app’s active database. It cannot reach copies that already exist outside it:

  • Backup zips you exported and saved or shared.
  • Any copy held by a cloud service you sent an export to.
  • The temporary copy of your most recent export, until your next export replaces it or Android clears it.

In addition, a database file may keep deleted content in unused internal pages until that space is reused. This is normal for SQLite and for backup-capable software generally.

To remove everything the app holds, uninstall it. Uninstalling deletes the app’s private storage, including its database. Exports you saved elsewhere are not affected and must be deleted by you.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published with a new effective date and included in an app update. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
